Suniel Shetty Says he failed in Bollywood after enjoying a few years of stardom; Congrats Tiger and Ayushmann

Suniel Shetty has been within the industry for 3 decades now and has had his share of hits and misses. He made his Bollywood debut in 1992 with Balwaan. He was later seen in films like Sapoot, Hu Tu Tu, Krodh, Hera Pheri, Dus, Kaante, Border, Gopi Kishan and Chup Chup Ke among many others. He was among the few action heroes in Bollywood and enjoyed early stardom like his contemporaries Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn. Suniel has now no qualms in admitting the very fact that he failed in Bollywood after a couple of years.

“I guess over a period of your time , whether it’s Ayushmann Khurrana or Tiger Shroff, they’re going to also start experimenting. What’s vital is to urge a picture and that they have a particular image for themselves. These two names can only be appreciated, hats off to them,” Suniel told IANS.

“My problem isn’t being typecast, my problem is playing safe. it’s not the topic that affects me the maximum amount because the banners you select to travel with like, ‘I will only work with XYZ’, ‘who’s the director?’ meaning you do not have your own judgement. Keep aside Ayushmann and Tiger from that lot because they need gone with subjects, directors and not just gone with banners,” he added.

Suniel feels the new generation actors need to create a private style. “No risk (means) you’re no actor consistent with me. Make your own style. check out Tiger, Ayushmann, Salman they’re all self-made. All folks were self-made. Yes, we made mistakes but there have been Akshay Kumar and Ajay Devgn, who came out with flying colors ,” he said.

He added, “There was a Suniel Shetty who failed after a couple of years because he believed within the subject but the marketing failed.”

Suniel feels his journey in Bollywood will help his son Ahan pave his path, now that the latter is ready to enter Bollywood. “What i’m trying to mention is, i’m talking about box-office. We start with box-office and the way people react. Nobody will risk a Rs 50-crore film with Suniel Shetty today but they’re going to risk a Rs 500-crore film with Akshay Kumar. Like I said, I made mistakes but that’s fine. Probably that have are going to be employed by my son,” he said.

Suniel is happy how his run in Bollywood has shaped up. “It is a fantastic journey. i’m grateful is all I can say,” he concluded.
